Commission Pricing
Coming up with pricing options for Commissioned art is way harder than you'd think it would be. Why not just charge by the hour? Well, some pieces require a couple hours, and some require days or even weeks to complete. Those prices could get outrageous, and I wouldn't pay for that, so why would I do that to someone else? Okay, so why not just charge a flat rate for everything? Some pieces are super simple and others are incredibly difficult. So I would either be overcharging you on one end, or selling myself short on the other. See - not so easy, is it? Simply put, the only way to achieve a balance between price and labor is to have a range. So, I came up with the idea of Drawing Levels. They range from the simplest sketch all the way to the most complicated masterpiece, and are priced accordingly.

Some do have special requirements, such as if you want me to only ink, or only color, something you already have. In that case, I'll need you to send me a digital copy of what you have. I've arranged the tiles in order of complexity starting with the simplest sketch. Trust me, I know how confusing those tiles can be, so feel free to Click Here for a quick-view in a table format. It's not as fancy as my tiles, but that's okay, I won't be offended too much...

There are lots of options to choose from, but I highly recommend Level 3.1. That's 1-2 characters; sketched, inked, and colored; with my Standard Background. It's straight-forward, not too complex, and looks awesome when it's done! Honestly, this is what I usually draw for myself.

A quick note on Backgrounds -
When done well, detailed backgrounds can look absolutely amazing. That said, over the years, I've noticed that sometimes artists will add way too many details to their backgrounds. The characters end up getting lost in the composition, and the overall drawing can be tough to look at. There are fancy techniques to (hopefully) maintain the focus on the characters as much as possible, but that takes a significant amount of time. Instead, I will typically opt for a more simplistic background, where I use minimal details designed to keep all the attention on the character(s). This what I refer to as my Standard Background.
