The Comic Graveyard
Simply put, a comic is comprised of words and pictures. At a basic level, it's made by combining elements including art, panels, captions, and dialogue. When done well, Sequential Visual Storytelling assembles those elements in such a way as to be clearly readable, relatable, and interesting enough for readers to get invested in the story - so they keep coming back for more, of course.
Ever since I first put pencil to paper and drew a superhero, I dreamed of being a comic artist. You know what, though? Drawing is hard! I needed the right set of skills to turn my comic ideas into reality. The problem is, every time I think I have what it takes, I realize just how much more I still have to learn. That's the curse of being an artist - the endless pursuit of perfection!
With that said, here's a look back at my many attempts - going as far back as 2004! Some people might consider these to be failures, but not me! When I look back at them, I ask myself, "What was it that didn't work? Do the figures have the right proportions? Why didn't I use perspective on those buildings? Why does it all look flat? Does this even have a solid story? Do those panels make sense for the story?"
These aren't failures - they're important learning opportunities!
